Why a delay in Vintage 2011August 23, 2011
Véraison in our vineyards started in August, 2011. This is the first stage of grape seasoning when the grape seeds soften and the color changes from green into yellowish in case of the white grape varieties and into reddish in case of red grape varieties; at the same time the sugar begins to accumulate in the grape seeds. This year the véraison in our vineyards started 10 days later as compared with the long-average records of previous years, which apparently will lead to 10 days rearranged harvest. The late vintage is usually the sign of a higher quality crops and we have great hopes that 2011 harvest wines will be of supreme quality. |
